The path of peace starts with each of us - here and now. This time of year, perhaps more than any other, is a time when we make intentional efforts to create peace in our lives. Of course, this isn't always as simple as it sounds. Life is pretty stressful, and if you're like me, there are times when you are not experiencing a sense of calm. Yet, as we practice creating peace, we will find that we change ourselves and in turn change the world.
Take a moment and slowly reflect upon this image. What do you notice? What captures your attention? What feelings come to your awareness?
Scenes like this have a way of helping us shift into a more relaxed and calm state. As you gazed at the image, maybe you noticed some of the stress and challenges of life ease up a bit. Nature helps us get in touch with our innate state of peace. Developing ways to experience peace within our own life also helps bring peace into our communities and the world.
Creating peace can be as simple as being generous with our smile, being patient and kind, or appreciating diversity.
